Parisian-born designer Caroline Beaupère grew up in Provence and began her career in Paris before moving to New York in 2001. Already an accomplished artist with an MBA and extensive background in high-end commercial and residential design, her impact on the design community was immediate.
In 2005, Caroline—though only 32 but showing true French savoir-faire—opened her own studio. Her talents were quickly recognized. In 2007, New York Interiors named her one of the “Ten New Designers to Watch” in its Hot & Hip edition, and in 2015, she was inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame.
Caroline was dedicated to her clients’ interiors, expressing an eclectic mix of modern and traditional furnishings. Her designs paid homage to elements of timeless sophistication while introducing modern pieces and fresh color palettes. Her work can be found in public spaces in iconic buildings across New York and Paris, including the Ansonia, the Apthorp, the Ritz Carlton, the Buddakan, the Grand Hyatt, and the Maison Française at Columbia University.
The true breadth of Caroline’s talents could be seen in her furniture and lighting designs—making powerful statements in each of her projects—and in her product designs. Her stunning Dune collection of dimensional bathtubs and washbasins—first launched at the Salone del Mobile in Milan in 2014—received critical praise and earned “Best of Year” awards from both Metropolis and Interior Design magazines.
But if there was one area of design closest to her heart, it was her tile collections. Caroline released her Jardins Français collection, which included the celebrated Fleur de Lys pattern, in 2017. Her Liliane collection was released in 2019, and her Ville Lumière collection—which sadly would be her last—was released in 2023. Each received numerous awards and wide praise from the design community, with Ville Lumière being described as “a love letter to Parisian architecture.”
In February 2024, though still young and a newlywed, Caroline was tragically taken from this world. But her art and the creativity of her designs live on.
Maintenant avec les anges elle s’élevé.
