December 19, 2018 (Exmore, Virginia) – New Ravenna, America’s premier designer and manufacturer of mosaics for both residential and commercial installations, is pleased to introduce Semplice, a collection of 33 mosaic designs inspired by the transformation of pattern through color.

Semplice, which means “simple” in Italian, explores the creation of patterns in classic geometric shapes that become dimensional through the intentional use of color. Using black as a bold accent the patterns evolve into dramatic combinations of color blocked stone. The use of contrasting stone colors imply an optical illusion. In a monochrome palette, the same shapes become more nuanced with subtle color variations caused by the veining inherent in natural stone. All of the mosaics in the Semplice collection can be installed on walls or floors, indoors or out.

Creative director, Cean Irminger, says of the collection, “I like to consider Semplice the chameleon in our mosaic family. A line that, at its core, is the simplest of motifs, but through the selection of color and scale holds endless possibilities. I think of each design in this family as a Tabula Rasa, a blank slate that, as a one-color study, can be a textural backdrop to a space’s décor. However, the intentional placement of color and choice of scale can elevate the same design and send it in a completely different direction, through tone-on-tone subtleties, dimensional colorblocking, or even boldly-hued maximalism combinations that dominate the contrasting design.”

Each pattern can be fully customized with the client’s material preferences to fit the scope of any commercial or residential project. Every mosaic in the Semplice Collection can be installed indoors or out, on floors or walls.
