The May/June issue of Home & Design included “Medina” in their “Must Have-Casbah Cool” feature. This mosaic is from the Miraflores Collection by Paul Schatz for New Ravenna. The “Casbah Cool” feature introduces Moroccan-style motifs to bring into the home. Alongside our Medina mosaic (a jewel glass mosaic shown in Aquamarine, Shell, and Agate), other decor for the home that looks like it was picked straight out of the bazaar are bamboo silk rugs in geometric patterns, Moroccan-inspired medallion drapery pullbacks, rustic, gold-finished pendant lighting and more.

The Miraflores Collection of eighteen mosaic designs was inspired by award winning interior designer Paul Schatz’s travels throughout the Latin countries of Spain, Portugal and Mexico, combined with his passion for Morocco and studies of Islamic geometric art. The hand crafted mosaics are complex abstractions of classic motifs. Miraflores, which means “to watch flowers” in Spanish, has a storied legacy of palaces, monasteries and neighborhoods in Spain and South America. The mosaics are created in natural stone and can be installed as floors and walls, inside and out.
