Marcie McComb

Nature has been a lifelong source of inspiration for master mosaicist Marcie McComb. Raised on her family’s farm in Hamilton Township, New Jersey, she grew up surrounded by gardens, and the changing rhythms of the natural world – early experiences that continue to shape her distinctive botanical aesthetic.

As a teenager, McComb began working at a local garden and flower shop, spending years surrounded by vibrant annuals and perennials. Her time among flowers gave her an intimate understanding of botanical form and the subtle variations in color, texture, and movement from one species to the next. She later earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art, where her senior thesis explored botanical and insect studies through painting, printmaking, and illustration.

Since joining New Ravenna in 1999, McComb utilized her early experience in floral design and background in fine art to translate her unique understanding of the beauty of botanicals into lasting depictions set in glass and marble. After working closely with artisans, designers, and collaborators to bring handcrafted mosaic designs to life, Flourish, her first design collection, is a natural culmination of these experiences.

Drawing from a lifetime spent among varying landscapes, Flourish showcases rich color, enchanting movement through material and botanical detail that could only be the product of McComb’s passion for both the enduring art of mosaics and the ever-renewing beauty of the nature that surrounds us all.
